CONTEXTUAL PRACTICE

11th november - sketching at the barbican

In the afternoon we all had a sketching session at the Barbican where we were supposed to draw inspiration from our surroundings and record these in our sketchbook. I think that working in this way is an effective way of adding originality to outcomes, as we are all sketching the same things but from our personal perspectives. I mainly did pen sketched as it is a medium I am comfortable with, but perhaps I should've chosen a new medium to get slightly more interesting results.

12th november - making a narrative

Creating a narrative from the drawings that I had proved to be a little bit difficult as I initially wasn't sure how to compose them cohesively. I thought about highlighting parts of the day that I enjoyed the most  and making a composition based on that. I also wanted to convey and element of surrealism too.
